ALPINE WALKS AND TRAILS

Explore the valleys and mountains in this region of the Haute Savoie via some of Les Contamines 28 walks and trails (promenades and randonnees).

Everyone will find the type of terrain that they like best, whether down in the valley, in the mountain pastures, in the forests or at high altitude. You can walk from the valley or save your legs for the higher alps by taking the summer ski lifts to get closer to amazing alpine views and lakes. Also why not visit the frequently open mountain huts and refuges on the higher routes and enjoy the scenery with locally prepared food and drink.

We can provide you with maps to help you choose your marked and graded trail. The grades are similar to those used in skiing, running from green to black, plus each trail has walking times so you can decide on the effort you want to put into your day.

Depending on how high you want to go the waymarked routes are usually open from June to October. To get the very best from your days in the mountains check the weather with the Tourist Office in Les Contamines and remember to set off with the appropriate clothing and equipment for your journey
